Readiness: Custom build Concept demo

Who it is for

Built for

A good fit

Content brands, multi-author blogs and knowledge publishers, from a company blog with a handful of internal contributors to a publisher with dozens of guest authors and a marketing manager who reports on leads. It suits editors who need a queue of submissions rather than an inbox, marketing managers who need to know which content converts, guest authors who want a clean place to file, and readers who follow a topic and expect to be kept up to date.

Also worth knowing

It is less suited to news titles that need a desk queue, editions and live coverage, and to magazines that publish in issues. Both have their own packages. Organisations that need more than one approval stage with an audit record, or lead routing rules that differ per hub, should look at the custom service first.

The operational problem it solves

How it runs, step by step

The editor logs in on Tuesday and opens the submissions queue.

  1. Four posts are waiting: two from regular guest authors, one from the marketing manager and one from a new contributor whose first piece needs a closer read.

  2. The editor opens the new one, leaves inline notes and sends it back; the author sees the notes in their workspace and refiles that afternoon.

  3. A long guide from a regular author is approved, assigned to the pricing hub, given a table of contents generated from its headings, and scheduled for Thursday morning.

On Thursday the marketing manager uploads the quarterly benchmark report as a gated download and attaches it to the same hub.

  1. A visitor arriving from a search result reads the guide, reaches the report, fills in the short form and downloads it; the lead appears in the dashboard with the asset and the hub recorded, and is passed to the CRM.

  2. At the end of the month the digest for the pricing hub assembles the five pieces published since the last one and goes to everyone who follows that topic.

  3. In the performance dashboard the manager sees that the guide was read to the end by most visitors and that the report produced the quarter's best conversion rate, which decides what gets commissioned next.

Features

What the package does

The package is organised as modules that follow a piece of content from submission to measurement: authors and approval, hubs and templates, gating and leads, and digests and reporting. Each module below lists what it does; the comparison table shows which package variant includes it.

Workflow and tasks

  • Multi-author submission and approvalContributors submit pieces that an editor reviews and approves before they are published.
  • Editorial roles and permissionsDecide who can write, edit and publish, so contributors work without access to everything.
  • Revisions, scheduling and embargoEvery edit is kept, and pieces can be scheduled or held until an agreed release time.

Content and editorial

  • Content hubs and pillar pagesGather related articles under a hub page for each theme, with a pillar page that anchors the topic.
  • Reading time and table of contentsEach article shows an estimated reading time and a contents list built from its headings.
  • Categories, tags, authors and seriesOrganise the library by subject, author and series, each with its own listing page.
  • Image sets with focal point and creditsImages are resized for each screen and cropped around a chosen focal point, with captions and credits.

Integrations

  • Full-page caching, feeds and sitemapPublished pieces appear in feeds and a sitemap, and pages are cached to load quickly.
  • Old-URL migration with redirect importImport old addresses so links already out in the world still reach the right article.

Reporting and insights

  • Content performance dashboardSee views, reads and conversions for each piece, so the editor knows which content is doing its job.

Forms and requests

  • Gated downloads with lead captureOffer a guide or report behind a short form and keep the details of those who ask for it.

Messaging and notifications

  • Topic subscriptions and digest emailsReaders follow the topics they care about and receive a digest of new pieces.

Ownership, maintenance and pricing

After the build

Deployment and ownership

The package runs on your hosting or on hosting we manage, chosen in the proposal and changeable later. You own the code and your content either way. Posts, authors, leads, downloads and media can be exported in standard formats at any time, and the portal can be moved to another provider.

Maintenance

Maintenance is optional and scoped separately. When taken, it covers security updates to the platform and its dependencies, monitoring of scheduled posts, digest sends and the CRM connection, backups, and a monthly window for small configuration changes such as a new hub, a new form field or an extra author role. Larger changes are quoted as change requests.

Pricing model

Priced per proposal.

The package is sold as a one-off setup and customisation with optional monthly maintenance and hosting as separate recurring lines. The setup figure depends on the number of authors and hubs, the add-ons chosen, the CRM and email platforms to connect, how many posts are migrated and whether you host it yourself. Recurring costs are listed on their own lines in the proposal.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can a post belong to more than one hub?

Yes. A post has a primary hub for its canonical place and can be listed on others, so a guide about pricing for a particular sector can appear under both topics.

What does the reader have to give to download a gated asset?

Whatever fields the marketing manager sets on the form, typically name, email and organisation. The lead record stores the answers with the asset and the page it came from, and the reader receives the download straight away.

How are digests put together?

A digest is assembled from what was published in a hub since the last send. The marketing manager reviews the draft, reorders or removes items, and sends it to subscribers of that topic through the connected email platform.

What does the dashboard count as a read?

A read is recorded when a visitor reaches the end of the article body, as distinct from a page view. Conversions are form completions and downloads attributed to the post or hub the visitor was on.

Is this a finished product I can see running?

Not yet. The readiness badge shows the real state: the package is a custom build assembled from our editorial, forms and messaging modules for each publisher, and the example on this page is a labelled concept demo rather than a live site.

We need two sign-offs on every post. Does the package do that?

The package ships one editorial approval stage. A second reviewer role with its own sign-off record is custom work, handled through the custom content portal service.
