Installation quote package

A quote platform built around the lead ledger: take a structured request, route it to installers by territory and remaining cap, collect their quotes for the homeowner to compare side by side, handle disputes with a recorded outcome and bill installers from the same ledger.

Who it is for

Built for

A good fit

Lead-generation businesses and installer networks for home energy and building improvements, from a founder running one technology across a region with thirty installers up to a national platform with several technologies, a few hundred installers and a small operations team. Daily users are the operations staff who watch routing, qualify odd requests and adjudicate disputes, the account manager who onboards installers and chases expiring documents, installers who accept leads and upload quotes from their phone, the finance person who runs the monthly billing from the ledger, the founder who wants conversion and dispute rates by source, and homeowners who submit a request and compare what comes back.

Not the right fit

It is not for an installer wanting its own enquiry pipeline, for a general trades directory where the homeowner picks and contacts the trader, or for a comparison site that compares tariffs rather than installation quotes; and it does not verify accreditations or carry out any installation work.

The operational problem it solves

How it runs, step by step

Nine o'clock.

  1. The operations lead opens the routing board: overnight, twenty-three requests came in, nineteen routed automatically and four held for review because the postcode fell outside any territory or the photographs did not match the stated technology.

  2. She assigns two to a neighbouring territory, rejects one as a tenant without permission and merges one that duplicated a request from the day before.

  3. A solar request from a detached house with a tiled roof has already gone to three installers in that area, each under their weekly cap; one accepted it on his phone at seven, one declined because he does not fit the battery brand the homeowner asked about, and the router offered the declined slot to the next installer in rotation, who accepted at eight.

By midday both accepting installers have uploaded quotes against the common structure: panel count, inverter, battery, price, warranty terms as they state them, and earliest start.

  1. The homeowner sees the two quotes side by side on her page, with the installers' profiles and the reviews collected from their completed jobs, and asks one a question through the platform.

  2. In the afternoon an installer disputes yesterday's lead because the phone number did not connect; the operations lead checks the call attempts he logged, credits the lead and the ledger shows the credit against next month's invoice.

  3. The account manager sees three installers with insurance documents expiring this month and sends reminders.

  4. At the end of the week the finance person generates installer invoices from the ledger, each line traceable to a request, a routing mode and a price, and the founder looks at conversion from request to accepted lead by advertising source.

Features

What the package does

The package ships as modules that mirror the lead's journey: request forms and qualification; installer network, territories and routing with the ledger; and quotes, comparison, disputes, reviews and billing. Each module below lists what it does; the comparison table shows which package variant includes it.

Forms and requests

  • Structured request forms per technologyHomeowners describe what they want fitted through a form for each technology, with photographs and the consent wording you set, so installers receive a usable brief.

Directory and reviews

  • Installer records with territories and documentsEach installer has a record holding postcode-area territories, the technologies they fit and documents with expiry dates, so you know who may receive which request.
  • Installer caps and holiday pausesInstallers set their own lead caps and pause leads during holidays, which keeps allocation fair without a call to the platform team.

Workflow and tasks

  • Routing by territory, technology and capEach request is sent to installers by territory, technology and remaining cap, and every allocation is written to a ledger you can check later.
  • Installer lead inbox with rerouteInstallers accept or decline each lead from their own inbox. A declined lead is rerouted to the next installer instead of sitting unanswered.
  • Quote upload and side-by-side comparisonInstallers upload quotes in a common structure so the homeowner can compare them side by side on like-for-like terms.
  • Lead disputes with a recorded outcomeAn installer can dispute a lead with a reason and evidence. The outcome is recorded and, where upheld, credited back in the ledger.
  • Review requests tied to completed jobsReview requests go out only for jobs marked complete, so reviews relate to work that was actually carried out.

Billing and payments

  • Installer invoicing from the ledgerInstaller invoices are produced from the allocation ledger and exported to your accounting software, so billing matches the leads delivered.
  • Subscription tiers alongside per-lead pricingOffer installers a subscription tier as well as paying per lead, with both billed from the same ledger.

Integrations

  • Lead delivery to installer CRMsLeads can be passed to an installer's own CRM by API or email instead of waiting in the platform inbox.

Reporting and insights

  • Reporting by advertising sourceSee which advertising sources produce requests that go on to convert, using the conversion events you define.

Ownership, maintenance and pricing

After the build

Deployment and ownership

Runs on your own hosting or on hosting we manage; the choice is made in the proposal and can change later. You own the code and your data, including homeowner requests, installer records, the allocation ledger, quotes, disputes and reviews, which can be exported at any time in standard formats. Nothing in the package stops a move to another provider.

Maintenance

Maintenance is optional and scoped separately from the build. When taken, it covers security updates, monitoring of routing, lead alerts and payment callbacks, backups of the ledger and documents, and a monthly window for small changes such as a new territory, a changed cap rule or a new dispute reason. Larger changes are quoted as change requests.

Pricing model

Priced per proposal.

Sold as a one-off setup and customisation with optional monthly maintenance and hosting as separate recurring lines. The setup figure depends on the number of technologies and forms, the routing rules, the add-ons selected, the payment and signature providers, and how much installer and lead history is migrated. The proposal states each line separately so recurring costs are never hidden in the build.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does routing decide which installers get a lead?

By the rules you set per technology and territory: how many installers per request, in what order (rotation, tier, acceptance rate), and respecting each installer's remaining weekly cap and any pause. Every decision is written to the ledger with its reason, so a question from an installer can be answered from the record rather than from memory.

What happens when an installer declines or ignores a lead?

A decline frees the slot immediately and the router offers it to the next eligible installer. A lead not accepted within the window you set is treated the same way, and the installer's acceptance rate is updated, which can affect their position in rotation if your rules say so.

Can installers see each other's quotes?

No. Each installer sees only their own quote and whether the homeowner has chosen. The homeowner sees all quotes side by side. The platform admin decides whether installers are told how many others received the lead.

How are accreditations shown to homeowners?

As the installer supplied them, with the document date, and flagged as expired if the date has passed. The package does not verify scheme membership; where a scheme publishes a lookup, that is a custom option and the returned status is shown with the date it was checked.

Can we charge a subscription instead of per lead?

Per-lead billing from the ledger is in the base package. Subscription tiers, or a mix of a monthly fee plus per-lead pricing, are an add-on, with the ledger still recording every allocation so credits and caps work the same way.

Is this a finished product I can see running?

Not yet. The readiness badge on this page shows the real state: the package is a custom build assembled from our forms, multi-vendor, orders and directory modules for each platform, and the request screen above is a labelled concept demo rather than a live client system. Needs beyond the listed options go through custom quote platform development.
