Readiness: Custom build Concept demo

Who it is for

Built for

A good fit

Takeaways, restaurants that deliver, dark kitchens and small multi-outlet brands with up to a handful of kitchens, from a single pizza shop with two drivers to a brand with three outlets sharing one menu. It suits owners who want to stop paying commission on regulars, shift managers who need to throttle orders when the kitchen is behind, kitchens that want tickets in cooking order on a screen, and drivers who want their next drops on a phone rather than a shouted address.

Not the right fit

It is not for cafés that only need counter pre-orders, nor for restaurants whose core need is table reservations or a QR menu; those have their own packages. It is not a marketplace and does not list you alongside other businesses, and it does not try to run stock, rotas or the till itself.

The operational problem it solves

How it runs, step by step

Five o'clock on a Friday.

  1. The shift manager opens the kitchen display and sets tonight's capacity to twelve dishes per fifteen-minute window, two lower than a normal night because a chef is off.

  2. The ordering site reads that number: a customer at six-ten is offered a delivery window of seven to seven-fifteen because the earlier windows are full, and the site tells her so instead of promising forty minutes.

  3. Her address falls inside zone two, so the fee and the minimum order for that zone apply automatically.

  4. She picks a half-and-half pizza, the modifiers the kitchen allowed, a meal deal that the ticket prints as one deal rather than three items, and a code from last week's flyer.

Payment is taken through the connected card provider and the order appears on the kitchen display in the slot it belongs to, not at the end of a scrolling list.

  1. As the kitchen moves it to preparing and then ready, her phone receives the status.

  2. A driver with the next three drops on his handset is assigned at ready, taps collected, and the customer sees out for delivery with a short window.

  3. Halfway through the night the kitchen is behind; the manager drops capacity to nine for the next hour and the site stops offering the overloaded windows.

  4. A customer messages that a side was missing; the manager refunds that line from the order screen and the money goes back through the provider without a phone call.

  5. At close the owner sees orders, refunds and margin by zone, and which promo code actually brought orders in.

What the package does

Ownership, maintenance and pricing

After the build

Deployment and ownership

The package runs on your own hosting or on hosting we manage; the kitchen display is any browser on a tablet and drivers use a phone, so no special hardware is required. You own the code and your data in either case. Customer records, order history, menus and zone definitions can be exported at any time in standard formats, and nothing in the package stops you moving it to another provider.

Maintenance

Maintenance is optional and scoped separately. When taken, it covers security updates, monitoring of the ordering site, payment and refund callbacks, the kitchen display and status notifications, backups, and a monthly window for small changes such as a new zone or a seasonal menu. Anything larger is quoted as a change request against the original scope.

Pricing model

Priced per proposal.

Sold as a one-off setup and customisation with optional monthly maintenance and hosting as separate recurring lines; there is no commission on orders. The setup figure depends on the number of outlets, delivery and driver arrangements, menu complexity, the payment provider, whether a native app is wanted and any till or printer connection. Each line is itemised in the proposal so recurring costs are never hidden in the setup.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How are delivery zones set?

The manager draws each zone on a map and gives it a minimum order and a fee. An address outside every zone is offered collection only, and a zone can be switched off during service when drivers are stretched.

What stops us taking more orders than the kitchen can cook?

Capacity per window. The kitchen sets how many orders or dishes it can produce in each fifteen-minute window and the site offers only windows with space. The manager can lower the number mid-service and the next windows close accordingly.

Does it work with our drivers?

Yes. Drivers get a phone view with their assigned orders and a route, and mark each collected and delivered. If you use a third-party fleet, the hand-off add-on passes the order to them instead.

How do refunds work?

From the order screen. The manager refunds a line, a delivery fee or the whole order and the money goes back through the connected card provider; the refund is recorded against the order and shows in the day's reconciliation.

Can the kitchen see marketplace orders on the same screen?

Keying them in by hand is included so the capacity count stays honest. Pulling them in automatically depends on what each marketplace exposes and is scoped as custom work.

Do customers have to create an account?

No. Guest checkout is the default; an account is offered afterwards so saved addresses and reorder work next time.

Is this a finished product I can see running?

Not yet. The readiness badge shows the real state: the package is a custom build assembled from our ordering, capacity, payment and dispatch modules for each business, and the screen on this page is a labelled concept demo rather than a live client system. Anything beyond the listed options is scoped as custom online food ordering development.
