Readiness: Custom build Concept demo

Who it is for

Built for

A good fit

Podcast networks, audio publishers and independent shows that have outgrown a single hosting account, from a two-show operation with one producer up to a network with a manager, several producers and regular sponsors. It suits network managers who want one place for every show, producers who need publishing to happen at the scheduled time without them, hosts who want their appearances collected on a profile, and listeners who expect chapters, transcripts and a feed that just works in their app.

Also worth knowing

It is less suited to radio stations, which need a live stream and a broadcast schedule, and to video channels, which need a programme guide and a video pipeline. Both have their own packages. Networks migrating many feeds from several hosts at once, or needing cross-show sponsor reporting with a sponsor login, should start with the custom service.

The operational problem it solves

How it runs, step by step

The producer uploads Thursday's episode on Tuesday afternoon.

  1. The file lands in the network's own storage, the duration and size are read automatically, and the episode record is created under season three with the next episode number.

  2. The transcription service returns a first draft, the producer corrects two names, and adds chapter markers at the segment changes.

  3. The host's profile and the guest's profile are attached.

  4. The episode is scheduled for six on Thursday morning; on Thursday it goes live, the show's feed updates, and the directories pick it up without anyone pressing a button.

The episode page shows the player, the chapters, the transcript and the show notes.

  1. A subscriber to the paid bonus feed hears the extended cut through their own private feed address; a listener who shared theirs on a forum finds it revoked and reissued without affecting anyone else.

  2. A sponsor read was recorded in the first ad slot, and the sponsor module attaches it to the episode.

  3. At the end of the month the network manager opens the sponsor report, which shows downloads for every episode carrying that sponsor's reads across all three shows in the campaign, counted the same way for each.

  4. A listener leaves a voicemail through the show page and it lands in the producer's queue for the next episode.

Ownership, maintenance and pricing

After the build

Deployment and ownership

The package runs on your hosting or on hosting we manage, chosen in the proposal and changeable later. You own the code, the feed addresses, the audio files and the statistics. Audio sits on storage under your own account, and episodes, transcripts, subscriber and sponsor data can be exported at any time.

Maintenance

Maintenance is optional and scoped separately. When taken, it covers security updates to the platform and its dependencies, monitoring of scheduled publishing, feed validity and the storage connection, backups of metadata and transcripts, and a monthly window for small configuration changes such as a new show or a new sponsor slot. Larger changes are quoted as change requests.

Pricing model

Priced per proposal.

The package is sold as a one-off setup and customisation with optional monthly maintenance and hosting as separate recurring lines. The setup figure depends on the number of shows, the size of the back catalogue to import, the add-ons chosen, the storage and transcription services connected and whether you host it yourself. Storage and delivery for audio are metered by the provider and shown as their own line.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Will the feeds work with the major podcast apps?

Yes. Each show feed is generated to meet the published requirements of the main directories, including artwork sizes, categories and episode metadata, and is checked against a validator before it is submitted.

How are downloads counted?

From the delivery logs of your own storage, with the same rules applied to every show so figures are comparable. The report shows downloads per episode over time and per show.

How do private feeds stay private?

Each subscriber receives their own feed address. If one is shared, the network manager revokes and reissues that single address; nobody else is affected.

Who writes the transcripts?

Either your team or a connected transcription service producing a first draft that the producer corrects. Both routes end in the same editor, and the transcript is published on the episode page and in the feed.

Is this a finished product I can see running?

Not yet. The readiness badge shows the real state: the package is a custom build assembled from our content, membership and forms modules for each network, and the example on this page is a labelled concept demo rather than a live network.

We are moving eleven shows from four hosts. Is that the package?

That scale of feed migration is custom work, planned show by show so no directory listing is lost. It is handled through the custom podcast portal service, and the package runs the network once the move is done.
