Readiness: Custom build Concept demo

Who it is for

Built for

A good fit

PR agencies distributing for many clients, newswire operators selling distribution to senders, and in-house communications teams at larger organisations that send to their own media lists. It suits operators who need to moderate what goes out under their name, account managers who want to compose once and target by sector and region, senders who expect to see what happened to their release, and journalists who want to control what they receive.

Also worth knowing

It is less suited to single organisations sending a few releases a year, which can usually manage with a newsroom page on their own website, and to news publishers, who need an editorial desk rather than a distribution wire. Operators with sender tiers that carry different moderation rules, or with a database that needs heavy clean-up before import, should start with the custom service.

The operational problem it solves

How it runs, step by step

A new sender registers on Monday.

  1. The operator sees the organisation in the verification queue, checks the domain and the contact, and approves it with first-release moderation switched on.

  2. The sender's account manager opens the composer, writes the release, attaches the sender's saved boilerplate, uploads two images and a product sheet to the media kit, and sets an embargo for Wednesday at seven.

  3. She targets the release at technology and business desks in two regions; the platform shows how many journalists match after opt-outs are applied.

  4. She submits, and the release lands in the moderation queue.

On Tuesday the moderator reads it, asks for a claim to be softened, and the sender revises and resubmits; the moderator approves.

  1. The release now waits for its embargo.

  2. At seven on Wednesday the platform sends it through the connected email provider, serving the media kit from the platform rather than as attachments.

  3. By nine the sender's dashboard shows sent, opened and downloaded per journalist for this release only.

  4. A journalist who has moved desks updates her topics in her preferences page and stops receiving technology releases from every sender at once.

  5. The release appears on the sender's public newsroom page, and one credit is deducted from the sender's pack.

  6. The operator's dashboard shows the morning's deliveries and the moderation backlog for the day.

Features

What the package does

The package is organised as modules that follow a release from sender to archive: senders and moderation, composer and lists, distribution and tracking, and billing and newsrooms. Each module below lists what it does; the comparison table shows which package variant includes it.

Accounts and permissions

  • Sender organisation onboardingOrganisations register as senders and are verified before they can send anything.
  • Journalist accounts with topic subscriptionsJournalists choose the topics they want to hear about and can opt out at any time.

Workflow and tasks

  • Moderation queue for first-time sendersReleases from new senders wait for an editor to approve them, so the list is not used for unchecked material.

Ownership, maintenance and pricing

After the build

Deployment and ownership

The package runs on your hosting or on hosting we manage, chosen in the proposal and changeable later. You own the code, the journalist database, sender records and the release archive. All of it can be exported in standard formats at any time, and the relationship with the email delivery provider is held under your own account.

Maintenance

Maintenance is optional and scoped separately. When taken, it covers security updates to the platform and its dependencies, monitoring of scheduled distribution, the email provider connection and payment callbacks, backups of the database and archive, and a monthly window for small configuration changes such as a new sector or a change to the credit packs. Larger changes are quoted as change requests.

Pricing model

Priced per proposal.

The package is sold as a one-off setup and customisation with optional monthly maintenance and hosting as separate recurring lines. The setup figure depends on the size of the journalist database to import, the add-ons chosen, the email and payment providers to connect, the newsroom customisation required and whether you host it yourself. Email sending volume is metered by the provider and shown as its own line.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can a sender send before the embargo?

No. The embargo is enforced by the platform, and the release waits in a scheduled state until the time passes. Changing the embargo re-schedules the send.

How does a journalist stop receiving a sector?

From their preferences page, where they can opt out of sectors, regions or specific senders. The opt-out applies to every sender on the platform immediately.

Can senders see other senders' journalists or results?

No. A sender sees the count of matching journalists when targeting and delivery events for their own releases. The journalist database itself belongs to the operator and is never exposed to senders.

What does the moderator see?

The queue of releases awaiting review, each with the sender's history and the release text, media kit and targeting. The moderator can approve, request changes or reject, and every decision is logged.

Is this a finished product I can see running?

Not yet. The readiness badge shows the real state: the package is a custom build assembled from our multi-vendor, forms, messaging and orders modules for each operator, and the example on this page is a labelled concept demo rather than a live newswire.

We want moderation to relax after a sender has a track record. Is that included?

The package moderates first-time senders and lets a moderator switch moderation off per sender by hand. Rules that change automatically with sender history are custom work, handled through the custom press release platform service.
