Readiness: Custom build Concept demo

Who it is for

Built for

A good fit

Directory operators starting or replacing a regional or national solicitor directory, referral networks that forward public enquiries to member firms, and smaller professional bodies that want a member-maintained public listing. It suits a directory administrator who manages imports and taxonomies, a moderator who handles claims and reviews, profile owners at firms who keep their own entry current, and searchers who want to filter by area of law and place.

Also worth knowing

It is less suited to bodies whose directory visibility must be driven nightly from an external membership system, and to marketplaces that want to match clients to solicitors algorithmically or take payment for legal work on-platform. It is also not a practice website for a single firm.

The operational problem it solves

How it runs, step by step

The administrator starts the week by opening the claims queue.

  1. Over the weekend eleven firms responded to claim invitations; eight verified automatically through an email at their own domain, and three uploaded a document for the moderator to check.

  2. She approves two and asks the third for something clearer.

  3. A partner at a newly claimed firm logs in, adds a fourth office in a different town, tags two solicitors with a new accreditation from the taxonomy and writes the firm's fee basis in her own words.

Meanwhile a member of the public searches for a conveyancing solicitor within ten miles of a postcode who speaks Polish, filters to accredited firms, and sends an enquiry from a profile.

  1. The enquiry is forwarded to the firm's chosen contact, tracked as delivered, and shows in the firm's dashboard; when the firm marks it responded, the searcher is invited to leave a review a few weeks later.

  2. The review lands in the moderation queue with the enquiry it came from attached.

  3. At month end the administrator runs the placements report, which shows impressions and enquiries for each sponsored slot, and the accuracy prompts go out to every profile not confirmed in six months.

Ownership, maintenance and pricing

After the build

Deployment and ownership

The package runs on your own hosting or on hosting we manage for you; the choice is made in the proposal and can be changed later. The operator owns the code and the dataset. Profiles, enquiries, reviews and placement records can be exported in standard formats at any time, and nothing in the package prevents moving to another provider.

Maintenance

Maintenance is optional and scoped separately. When taken, it covers security updates to the platform and its dependencies, monitoring of enquiry forwarding and prompt emails, backups, and a monthly window for small changes such as taxonomy additions, new placement types or search ordering tweaks. Larger changes are quoted as change requests.

Pricing model

Priced per proposal.

The package is sold either as a one-off setup with optional monthly maintenance and hosting as separate recurring lines, or as a subscription bundling hosting and maintenance for operators who prefer a single recurring charge. The setup figure depends on the size of the dataset to import, the add-ons chosen, the verification method and the hosting choice. Your proposal lists each line separately.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does duplicate detection work on import?

Rows are compared by normalised firm name, postcode and email domain. Clear duplicates are merged, near matches are flagged for the moderator, and the reconciliation report lists every decision so the import can be checked before it goes live.

Can firms edit their own profiles?

Once claimed and verified, yes. Profile owners edit offices, areas of law from the taxonomy, accreditations, languages and the fee basis in their own words. Changes to accreditation fields can be set to require moderator approval.

How are reviews kept honest?

With the reviews add-on, a review can only be left by a searcher who sent an enquiry through the directory and was invited afterwards. Every review enters a moderation queue with its enquiry attached, and profile owners can respond publicly but not remove reviews.

How are sponsored placements shown?

Placements appear in labelled slots on search results and category pages for the period purchased. They never change the organic ordering, and the owner's report shows impressions and enquiries per slot.

Can visibility follow our membership database?

That synchronisation is custom work scoped through the solicitor directory development service. The base package lets a moderator hide or show profiles manually and import a membership list periodically.

Is this a finished product I can see running?

Not yet. The readiness badge on this page shows the real state: the package is currently a custom build assembled from our directory, listings and forms modules for each operator, and the example on this page is a labelled concept demo rather than a live directory.
