A vehicle marketplace you operate: dealers feed stock in, private sellers list and are moderated, buyers search, save and get alerts, enquiries are tracked, and featured packages are bought and renewed online.
Classified operators, dealer groups that want a shared marketplace, and niche markets around one vehicle type, from a portal with a dozen dealers and a few hundred listings up to one with hundreds of dealers and tens of thousands of listings. Daily users are the portal admin who manages dealers, packages and settings, moderators who work the queue, dealers who watch their feed results and enquiries, private sellers who list and renew, and buyers who search, save searches and enquire.
Not the right fit
It is not for a dealer who wants to list only their own stock, which is the dealership package, nor for an operator who wants to take payment between buyer and seller or run auctions; and it does not try to be a content publication, even though news or guides can sit alongside the listings as custom work.
The operational problem it solves
How it runs, step by step
Seven o'clock.
The overnight feed run has processed thirty-eight dealer files; thirty-six were accepted in full and two dealers have rejection reports waiting on their dashboards, one with missing registrations and one with a changed column order.
The admin sees the summary and does nothing, because the dealers will see it themselves when they log in.
Overnight, twenty-two private listings were submitted.
Fourteen went live automatically; eight are in the moderation queue, three flagged for photographs that match a listing from last month, two for prices well below the model's range and three because the accounts are new.
The moderator works through them on the train, approving five and rejecting three with a reason the seller receives.
At nine, two hundred and twelve buyers receive their morning alert email because a listing matching a saved search went live.
One buyer sends an enquiry on a convertible; it reaches the dealer's inbox through the portal, is logged against the listing, and shows on the dealer's dashboard as the fourth enquiry on that car this week.
A private seller whose listing is about to expire renews it and buys a bump, paying online; the listing moves to the top of its search results.
At the end of the month the admin sends dealer statements from the package module, sees enquiries per dealer, listings live and expired, moderation decisions and revenue by package, and reads the three new dealer reviews left by buyers who enquired and then bought.
Features
What the package does
The package ships as modules that follow a listing from intake to sold: seller accounts and feed intake, the search and alerts buyers use, and the operator layer of moderation, packages, enquiries and reviews. Each module below lists what it does; the comparison table shows which package variant includes it.
Listings and search
Listings with photographs and price historyEach listing sits on a vehicle record keyed by registration, with photographs and a history of price changes.
Manual listing and bulk feed intakeSellers create listings by hand, or dealers send stock in bulk through a feed with per-dealer mappings and rejection reports.
Advanced search with saved searches and alertsBuyers filter listings, save a search and receive email alerts when new vehicles match.
Dealer profiles with buyer reviewsEach dealer has a profile page showing their stock and buyer reviews.
Accounts and permissions
Dealer and private seller accountsDealers and private sellers have separate accounts with listing rules that differ for each.
Paid listing packagesSell listing packages with featured and bumped placements, paid for online.
Messaging and notifications
Enquiry forwarding with trackingBuyer enquiries are forwarded through the portal and tracked for each listing.
Compliance and records
Moderation queue with automatic flagsListings pass through a moderation queue, with configurable rules that flag the ones needing a human look.

Runs on your own hosting or on hosting we manage; the choice is made in the proposal and can change later. You own the code and your data, including listings, seller accounts, enquiry history and reviews, which can be exported at any time in standard formats. Nothing in the package stops a move to another provider.
Maintenance
Maintenance is optional and scoped separately from the build. When taken, it covers security updates, monitoring of feed runs, alert sends and payment callbacks, backups of listings and photographs, and a monthly window for small changes such as a new feed mapping, a new package or a change to moderation flags. Larger changes are quoted as change requests.
Pricing model
Priced per proposal.
Sold as a one-off setup and customisation with optional monthly maintenance and hosting as separate recurring lines. The setup figure depends on the number of dealer feed formats, listing volume and storage, whether paid packages are included, the moderation rules to automate, the payment provider and how many listings and accounts are migrated. The proposal states each line separately so recurring costs are never hidden in the build.
Prefer a fully custom build?
Vehicle listings portal development
Custom vehicle classified portals for operators who need dealer feeds, private sellers, moderation and paid listing packages running on one platform they own.
What happens when a dealer's file does not match the mapping?
The run accepts every row it can and produces a report listing the rejected rows and why, visible to the dealer and the admin. Listings already live are not removed because of one bad file; they expire only under the rules you set.
Can private sellers list for free and dealers pay?
Yes. Listing rules and packages are set per account type, so private listings can be free with a limit per account while dealers buy packages, or any other combination the admin configures.
How do saved-search alerts work?
A buyer saves a search with its filters and chooses a frequency. The portal checks new and changed listings against saved searches and sends one email per buyer per run with the matches, with a link to manage or stop the alert.
Can a seller see the buyer's email address?
Not unless the buyer includes it in the message. Enquiries are relayed through the portal so the seller replies from the dashboard or by replying to the relay email, and the thread stays attached to the listing for both sides.
How are dealer reviews kept fair?
Only buyers who sent an enquiry on that dealer's listing can review them, one review per enquiry, and the dealer can respond publicly or raise a dispute that the admin decides. The rules are configurable and shown on the review form.
Is this a finished product I can see running?
Not yet. The readiness badge on this page shows the real state: the package is a custom build assembled from our listings, multi-vendor, orders and directory modules for each operator, and the moderation queue above is a labelled concept demo rather than a live client system. Needs beyond the listed options go through custom listings portal development.
