Readiness: Custom build Concept demo

Who it is for

Built for

A good fit

Course creators and small e-learning businesses selling to the public, training organisations moving classroom material online, and corporate academies delivering internal programmes to staff. It suits a platform owner who wants the catalogue, revenue and completions in one view, instructors who build courses and answer learner questions, support staff who handle enrolments and refunds, learners who want to pick up where they left off on any device, and, where corporate seats are used, managers who need to see their team's progress.

Also worth knowing

It is less suited to exam boards and certification bodies whose core need is secure timed assessment with a large question bank, which has its own package, and to tutoring businesses selling live one-to-one lessons, which also have a package of their own. It does not host or transcode video itself; it connects to the video host you choose.

The operational problem it solves

How it runs, step by step

A learner buys the project management course on her phone on Sunday evening.

  1. Her account is created, the first module is open, and the second is locked until she passes the module one quiz.

  2. She watches two lessons, closes the app, and on Monday on the train the player resumes at the point she left.

  3. She takes the quiz, fails by one question, reads the feedback on the two she got wrong, and passes on her second of three allowed attempts.

  4. Module two unlocks and the next drip-released lesson is scheduled for Wednesday, which she sees on her dashboard.

Meanwhile the owner opens the studio.

  1. A corporate client bought twenty seats last week; their manager has assigned eighteen staff and the dashboard shows twelve started and three completed.

  2. One instructor has a question waiting in the discussion thread on lesson four and answers it from the studio; every learner in that cohort can see the reply.

  3. The owner publishes a new bundle of three courses, sets the price and the membership eligibility, and it appears in the catalogue.

  4. At month end the instructor statements are generated from sales and, where configured, watch time, and each instructor sees only their own.

  5. When the learner finishes module five on Friday, her certificate is generated with a verification link she adds to her professional profile.

Features

What the package does

Ownership, maintenance and pricing

After the build

Deployment and ownership

The package runs on your own hosting or on hosting we manage for you; the choice is made in the proposal and can be changed later. You own the code, the course content and the learner data. Courses, learners, progress, quiz results and sales can be exported at any time in standard formats, and nothing in the package stops you moving to another provider.

Maintenance

Maintenance is optional and scoped separately from the setup. When taken, it covers security updates to the platform and its dependencies, monitoring of payment callbacks, video host connections and email delivery, backups with restore tests, and a monthly window for small configuration changes such as a new membership tier or a changed attempt limit. Larger changes are quoted as change requests.

Pricing model

Priced per proposal.

The package is sold as a one-off setup and customisation with optional monthly maintenance and hosting as separate recurring lines, or as a subscription that bundles hosting and maintenance where you prefer a single recurring charge. The setup figure depends on the number of courses, the add-ons selected, the video host and payment provider, how much is migrated from the current tool and the hosting choice. Your proposal states each line separately.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can we run both self-paced and cohort courses?

Yes, with the cohort add-on. A course is marked self-paced or cohort; cohort courses carry a start date, a session calendar and discussion per lesson, and drip release is counted from the cohort start rather than the individual enrolment.

How do completion rules work?

Each module or lesson can require earlier items to be completed, a quiz to be passed at a given score, or a minimum time on a lesson before the next unlocks. The owner sets the rules per course; learners see what is locked and why.

Where does the video live?

On the video host you choose, connected during setup. The package stores the reference, controls who can play it and records progress; where the host reports watch time, that is recorded too.

Can several instructors use one platform?

With the multi-instructor add-on, yes. Each instructor builds and manages their own courses, answers their own discussions and sees a monthly statement of their revenue share. The owner sees everything.

Does it handle subscriptions and renewals?

The membership add-on sells access to a library for a recurring charge through the payment provider, handles renewals and failed payments, and removes access when a membership lapses according to the rules you set.

What if we want a pricing model the package does not have?

Bespoke models, such as splitting membership revenue by watch time, are custom work scoped through the online learning platform development service. The package records the events such a model needs.

Is this a finished product I can see running?

Not yet. The readiness badge on this page shows the real state: the package is currently a custom build assembled from our content, memberships, orders and messaging modules for each client, and the example on this page is a labelled concept demo rather than a live learning platform.
